Do I need prior experience to take a course?

No. We offer courses for complete beginners through advanced students and working security professionals. If you are not sure where to start, contact us and we will help you choose the right course.

What counties do your CCW courses cover?

Our CCW courses are approved for Sacramento County, Placer County, and Yolo County.

How much does the CCW course cost?

Accepted Answer

CCW Certification costs $350 and includes full classroom instruction plus live range qualification for Placer, Yolo, and Sacramento Counties.

What is the difference between the Initial CCW course and the Renewal course?

The Initial CCW course is 16 hours and covers all state-mandated topics for first-time applicants. The Renewal course is 8 hours and is for existing permit holders who need to requalify before their permit expires.

Does completing your CCW course guarantee I will get a permit?

No. CCW permits are issued at the discretion of your local Sheriff's Department. Our training meets all state and county requirements, but approval is not guaranteed and depends on your application and jurisdiction.

How many firearms can I qualify with during the Initial CCW course?

Up to three firearms at no additional cost. Most students qualify with one or two.

We offer CCW Certification, Firearms Training (Classroom and Range), Guard Card Training, Armed Guard Training, Basic Firearms Fundamentals, Tactical Medicine, OC Spray Certification, Non-Lethal Home Defense, and First Aid/CPR/AED Certification.

Do you handle the BSIS paperwork and fingerprinting?

Yes. We handle Live Scan fingerprinting, application processing, and BSIS submission in-house so you do not have to go anywhere else.

What does armed guard training require?

Accepted Answer

Armed guard training requires Live Scan fingerprinting, a psychological evaluation through a state-recommended vendor, and completion of the online BSIS application. We walk you through the entire process. The psych evaluation is paid separately by the student.

What is included in the Train to Self-Rescue membership?

The $100/month civilian membership includes ongoing access to scenario-based training, tactical medicine, range days, and mindset training. A $20-per-session drop-in option is also available. Session schedule coming soon, contact us for current availability.

What is included in the Security Officer membership?

The $60/month membership is built for working security officers and includes firearms requalification support, required training hour tracking, and BSIS compliance support.

How do I register for a class?

Tap any training block on the Weekly Training Calendar and choose Request This Training, use any Register button on a course card, or call (916) 919-3859. We confirm your seat by phone or email once we lock in a date.

How can I pay for classes with Down Range Logistics?

Online payments are accepted securely through Stripe. For in-person payments, Down Range Logistics can be more flexible and may accept cash or Venmo.

Is Down Range Logistics beginner friendly?

Yes. Down Range Logistics welcomes complete beginners. Basic Firearms Fundamentals ($150) requires no prior experience, and our instructors walk you through safety, handling, and operation at your pace.
